Technicolor Hackenbush
This game is taken from the book On Numbers and Games by John Conway (Academic Press, 1976). This is a variation of the game Hackenbush Unrestrained. If you have never played any Hackenbush games before, it is probably a good idea to play a round or two of Hackenbush Unrestrained just to get the hang of it. Other versions of the games include Hackenbush Restrained and Hackenbush Hotchpotch.
What you need
- A Hackenbush Picture that is drawn on paper in one color.
- Two colors of crayons or felt-tipped marker, one for each player.
- If you want to preserve the pictures so you can resuse them and play again, you can lay a plastic transparency over the picture and draw on that with washable markers as you play.
How to play
- Each player chooses a color which is their color throughout the game.
- At each turn, a player may color any number of lines with their color, as long as all the lines that are colored on one turn are connected.
